Amplify
We simplify the process of discovering and contacting musicians and venues
Overview
Amplify is a mobile application designed to serve the needs of musicians and the venues they perform at. Many artists struggle to find venues and opportunities to introduce their music to an audience. Our app offers many features to help combat this difficulty. To do this we offer resources that are aimed at simplifying the entire venue booking process and promoting connections within the music industry.
Musicians need a quick way to discover venues to play at and advertise their music because they don’t have enough spare time to research venues nor do they have a tool that advertises themselves directly to fellow musicians.
Problem Statement
The Team
The Amplifiers Team was an educational team where we were assigned to design a mid-fidelity app and prototype it.
We all have an interest in music and I have personally played in local shows, so we took mine and others experiences to create Amplify. An app designed to connect local artists with each other and with venues to help promote local music.

Our Process
During our research, we found that local venues provide new musicians with affordable and accessible spaces to perform and access connections. Social media now plays a big role in getting booked for shows and building a following, and for the ones starting out it can be difficult to get a footing. We wanted to create an app for newcomers looking for starting point that will help them gain more
Small Venues are Essential for Growth
Our research showed that rising costs, inconsistent pay and competition from major promoters makes it difficult for artists and venues to stay active. These pressures often lead to fewer local shows and loss of motivation among musicians.
Our Shift to Amplify
The secondary research will influence our decisions by showing how important communication, promotion, and accessibility are for both musicians and venues. Understanding the financial and organizational struggles they face, helps us prioritize features that will allow us to help make connection and collaboration easier.
Insights from sources also revealed opportunities to support smaller venues and artists through digital tools that improve visibility and engagement. However, many of our sources focused mostly on broad industry rather than local experiences, so more research on smaller community based music scenes would help us design solutions that meet real-world needs more effectively.
